We had a wonderful time Friday night and Saturday hosting Ricky Chelette! Ricky spoke at our group meeting Friday night, and to a general church audience Saturday morning at 10AM. For those of you who don’t know, Ricky is the Director of Living Hope Ministries in Arlington (Dallas-Ft. Worth area). Living Hope provides a safe place for individuals seeking restoration and healing through weekly support group meetings, moderated online support forums, in-depth discipleship programs, and active partnerships with churches around the world.
Friday evening Ricky spoke to our group about “The Cycle of Sin” that every human has to address. Using scriptural wisdom, medical research, and his own experience he taught about various triggers that we all experience. Left to our own devices he demonstrated how these things can ultimately lead to spiritual, emotional, relational, and eventually physical death. He then explained how God provides a way of escape through our relationship with Him.
On Saturday he shared about common things he has observed in homosexual men and youth, based on his vast experience. While it was sometimes hard to believe he was actually addressing in plain language various sexual sins right there inside the church, he always did so with grace and dignity. It was refreshing to receive wise counsel about critical needs all boys have regarding their sexual development, and to see that the church is not afraid to address these questions. The feedback we received was overwhelmingly positive. Thanks Ricky!
Our thanks again to Pastor Tom Goodman and Hillcrest Baptist Church for letting us use their building, and for their continued support of LifeGuard Ministries.
